Lexington Elementary Volunteer Positions Descriptions

SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS

HOME ROOM PARENT (Position can be shared)

  • Direct liaison with the teacher and other parents in the class
  • Plan on Holiday celebrations, facilitate class projects for annual school functions
  • Coordinate Wednesday envelope activity
  • Solicit for LGEF funds, Escrip membership, H&SC membership and Scrip orders
  • Work with emergency Phone Tree Volunteers

EMERGENCY PHONE TREE VOLUNTEER (2 per class)

  • Coordinate a phone tree with class parents in case of emergency at school. Participate in 1 trial run at beginning of year LIBRARY-M,T,TH,F-Can do 1 single day (12-12;45)
  • Help children find, check out and reshelf books, general library duties

YARD DUTY-M,T,Th,F-Can do 1 single day (September 12:-12:45)

  • Monitor activity of Children on playground

RUN ACROSS AMERICA-T,Th – Weekly

  • Coordinate running activity for each classroom 1X per week
  • Document information and track weekly, monthly and annually

PROJECT CORNERSTONE Anti Bullying Campaign (1 per class) - Monthly

  • Participate in Monthly meeting with each Volunteer to coordinate reading material and activity
  • Schedule 1X per month 30 minute read/activity for designated class

YEARBOOK (1 per class)

  • Coordinate photos for designated classroom
  • Work with Lead to design and create annual yearbook

SCHOOL PLAY COORDINATORS (2 needed) November – February 13th

  • Facilitate parent volunteer responsibilities, costume planning, lighting
  • Interface between Director and H&SC TALENT SHOW (Date tbd)

EVENT/ACTIVITIES/FUNDRAISING

WRAPPING PAPER SALES 4th and 5th grade – September 2nd – 20th

  • Liaison between Wrapping Paper Company and class parents
  • Coordinate for each child to sell wrapping paper
  • Collect sales sheets * Distribute wrapping paper with families for final distribution

MOVIE NIGHTS FUNDRAISERS

  • SPAGHETTI DINNER – September 17th Coordinate activity required to provide movie, dinner and related activity
  • HALLOWEEN – October 29th Coordinate activity required to provide Halloween movie and related activity
  • SPRING – March 18th Coordinate activity required to provide a Spring movie and related activity
  • SPRING - April 14th + Coordinate activity required to provide a movie and related activity

RED RIBBON WEEK October 25th – 29th

  • Coordinate each day’s “Healthy Choice” Snack and obtain Volunteers

BOOK FAIR LIBRARY FUNDRAISER (1 volunteer per) November 1st -5th , March 7th – 11th

  • Coordinate collection of books, organize into categories and set up
  • Identify volunteers for selling daily

FOOD, WINE AND SONG ADULT FUNDRAISER November 6th

  • Chairs needed to oversee Auction, Food and Wine and Music
  • Volunteers to solicit and collect Auction items, Food and Wine

HALLOWEEN PARADE & CARNIVAL October 29th

  • Coordinate with each home room parent for class activity/game * Obtain volunteers to help set up organize, set up and run activities, including food and drink

FRIENDSHIP FEAST November 23rd

  • Coordinate with Home Room parent each classes participation plans
  • Obtain volunteers for set up, decorating, final food and drink preparation, serving and clean up

HOLIDAY BAZAAR FUNDRAISER December 10th

  • Solicit for Vendors to participate
  • Coordinate tables and sales
  • Obtain volunteers

JOGATHON FUNDRAISER April 1st

  • Set up, count laps, provide water to kids, clean up
  • Solicit for Corporate sponsors

DAY ON THE GREEN FAMILY FUNDRAISER May 15th

  • Chairs needed to oversee Auction, Food, Band and Activities
  • Solicit for auction items, food vendors, live music
  • Set up, tear down of tables, tents

FUN DAY - up to 10 volunteers

  • Prepare and order all necessary documents
  • Create, support and run the activities, including set up and clean up
  • Solicit for volunteers

SCRIP Gift Cards

  • Collect sales from office, Turnin the order, pickup the order, distribute the order
  • Write a check to the scrip people that is reimbursed by H&SC

e-SCRIP

  • Coordinate new signups & updates
  • Provide summary of inputs of Scrip to H&SC

LEXWEAR

  • Identify opportunities and design as designated
  • Inventory, reorder, and sell

DISTRICT VOLUNTEERS

CASA REPRESENTATIVE Community Against Substance Abuse

  • Attend district meetings
  • Facilitate Red Ribbon Week (Healthy Choices) at Lexington

MUSIC BOOSTER CLUB

  • Support Music teacher needs at Lexington

LGEF CAPTAIN(S)

  • Runs LGEF fundraising drive
  • Speaks at new parent orientations to inform parents of purpose of LGEF
  • Attends LGEF and H&SC meetings to report on what the organization is doing
  • Delivers LGEF material, hangs banners
